Shiney: The wait begins

Shiney Ahuja’s future seems uncertain after rape charges were filed against him. Where does that leave the films he's signed?
Shiney: The wait begins
Shiney Ahuja, whos in police custody for allegedly raping his maid, has left the producers of his upcoming films in a spot.
According to reports, over Rs 10 crore is at stake, with Shiney signed up for Accident, Har Pall, Chalu Movies Inc and an international project titled Silver Cord. Still, the producers and directors of these films havent given up hope of completing their projects and are waiting for the courts to decide their future course.
Ram Kamal Mukherjee, vice-president of the production company handling Accident says, Weve completed more than 90 per cent of the film.
1x1 polls
We need to shoot for just three or four more days and these scenes require Soha Ali Khan and Shiney Ahuja. Well shoot the solo Soha scenes and other patchwork sequences in the meantime. Once we get fresh dates from Shiney, well resume the shoot and wrap up the film. He adds that the fate of the film is not undecided as has been reported in media. The film is almost complete and well release it when were ready with it, says Ram.
Director Sudhir Mishra, who is also Shineys mentor, had been planning to make the movie, Hitman, with him. But he wont let these developments bog him down. It depends on the decision of the court. If Shiney is innocent, which I think he is, I dont see a problem. If hes proved innocent, his films should not run into trouble; if hes found guilty, we wont work with him, he says. When asked about the fate of Hitman, all Sudhir will say is, Well cross that bridge when we come to it.
Controversies are part of the film industry, but whenever a star is accused of a criminal offence, be it Salman Khan or Sanjay Dutt, it shakes the film frat up. Director Anurag Basu, who has worked with Shiney in Gangster and Life In A... Metro, says films are very vulnerable. We, as director or producers, pray that nothing goes wrong. But accidents are a part of film-making and we have to be prepared for them. When the lead actor is charged with a criminal offence, the films fate does become uncertain. If Shineys found guilty, his career might get affected, but if hes proved innocent, I dont see any trouble. The public will go with the judgement meted out by the court, he says.
